Our History
The New River Theatre Guild begin in 2014 with the goal of bringing live theatrical productions to Floyd, Virginia and the New River Valley. The first production was Play On! by Rich Abbot, a script featuring a theatre company struggling to produce a local playwright's play and everything that could go wrong did. The production was housed inside of the June Bug Center's Black Box theater and was well received.
After the first production, NRTG joined the June Bug Center as one of their anchor programs and a board of directors was invited to represent the fledgling theatre company. We have partnered with Floyd County High School, and Radford High School to share resources and give students directing and acting opportunities, and provide two theatre afterschool programs At The June Bug Center on Thursdays.
NRTG partners with the June Bug Center for Arts & Education to produce acting classes for adults and children. Find out more by visiting www.thejunebugcenter.com
